Letters of David Francis Smith, January-June 1941 - Part 6

-4.
as yet, may go over the weekend & see what
they are like. Your memory must be a lot better
than mine, cant remember seeing ''Florian'' with
you & Mabel.
How is the tennis going, suppose you
would be able to find much else to do from
now on. I havnt had a game since the last
with you, would loike to get on to a few.
Am rather interested in this hair
business of yours will reserve my opinion until
I get a snap, I did like it the way it was,
who wanted the change.
Enclosing a few snaps, very good ones
too, taken around here, as yet I havent any
of yours truly, perhaps I'll have one or two
next time.
Cant find any news for the present then,
so I'd better close up.
"Cheerio"
With all my Love & Kisses

My Darling Rene,
Received your most welcome
letter on Saturday, pleased to hear that
you & all at home are OK.
Things are still the same
here with us nothing startling happening.
The weather at present is getting very
humid must be getting on to the wet
season.
Many thanks for the Order
it was very much appreciated. Up to date
I havent received any of your papers, perhaps
I'll get a few in the next boat mail.
Yes I'll say I was annoyed
about that letters must say I'm glad that
you received both my letters together, it
would help quite a lot.
Think I told you, you're letter
No. 12 arrived by the next mail.
Evidently it wasnt news, one
.4.
Am down to play a game of soccer this
afternoon, afraid I wont last very long, last
game I had was against the Artillery down
home, & the was a fair while ago.
Cant explain that John's Service business
on the envelopes, evidently something to do
with with the Post Office.
You seem to have quite a few news
reels of stories in Malaya, don't think they
ever took up around these parts.
Well Sweetheart afraid I cant find
any news to tell you for the present so
I'd better close up.

My Darling Rene,
Just the usual to let you
know that I'm O.K. & still in the land of
the living, hope this finds you & all at home
in the best of health etc.
Had expected to receive
a letter from you on Tuesday but
was disappointed, also missed out
on the previous Tuesday thought
then that I'd get two in the Saturday,
but only one turned up, maybe I'll
get two this weekend, so seeing I
havent a letter to answer this lot
wont be so easy to write.
Things are still just the
same here with us, nothing startling
happening.
Had a fair sort of a trip
today over to a seaside place, was
very nice & a good break.
