My Dearest Dot 10th Oct 1943
Well darling Im afraid I'm rather stuck for news this week everything is just the same
but then there never is much news in any of my letters is there, they are all the same, I moan
about the mail, tell you how much I miss you, and that I still havent changed etc and that's it finished
its all true Dot, but it must be very boring for you to read the same things over everytime darling
they all start and finish the same, it just don't seem right to me Dot' feeling the way I do, and with so much
I want to tell you, and yet every time I write to you I write the same old things Im afraid if I dont get
back to you soon this life will be getting the best of me darling Im missing you more as the days
roll by,still how about yourself sweet how are you everything going allright, what about the
mail is it any quicker this way, dont forget to let me know which is best and in the mean time Ill
keep sending it this way, apparently it cant be much worce than the other. By the way its not much
use asking people you see wearing my colours if they know me you wont find many who do
Well darling by the time you get this your birthday will be over, such an important one to its a bit
late for Birthday Greetings but you will know I was wishing you all the best on that day and at the same time feeling very lonely because I couldnt be with you, or couldnt even send you something
to remember me by that what hurts, still darling we will be together for you next one so dont worry
we can makeup for past years and we will, they say everything comes to those who wait. I love you very
much young lady, honest and the more I think of you the worce I get, and Im always thinking
of you darling, thats how I pass the days away, now dont get mad at me Dot, Its your own fault, your so darn nice that I just can't help myself, gosh you'll be in a spot of bother when I get back darl,
Ill be hard to get rid off so dont say I didnt tell you. Well darling Im still in the best of health, and
Ive only one complaint, and you what that is dont you sweet, if you dont you should
Well darling give my kindest regards to everyone once more for me, and as always all my
love to you. Take care of yourself for me Dot, Cheerio for the present Yours forever Mac

My Dearest Mac,
You know - it’s the nicest feeling getting a
letter from you. Since my last epistle to you I
received one more, dated June 21st. It arrived only
last night - or rather, that's when I received it. You
should have see me, sweet, all settled in bed for the night
and having a last minute read, when in walked Pop
with the letter. Boy oh boy! How I leaped at him!
Feel like a stranger? Not when I read your letters,
Mac, No, I don't really think I could ever feel a
stranger toward you darling. We have too many
memories always bringing us to-gether haven't we?
I felt rather mean about my last letter when I
read what you had to say "about those five 'words'".
But I really think it was the wisest thing to do
just now. I dont ever want to feel my marriage is one
of those things decided upon in a rush, or based on
anything such as a passing fancy. Which of course
applies in no way to us - thinking of our years we
have spent waiting and remembering how you always
kept asking me - before the war - to go out with you.
Boiled down, Mac, I suppose I just want to be sure
and I need you home here to help me. So please
write and tell me you understand darling. I do so
very much need your faith in me, Mac for goodness

sake, don't think because I told you I intended to be a
farmer's wife when I was a kid, that I still am set
on the idea. Kids have lots of funny notions, silly!
Only I don't mind talking about it, on hearing you
talk about it (in black and white I mean;) Just you
tell me about everything Mac. I promise I won't ever get
mad at you - true and honest! So instead of bottling it
all, put it down on paper to me and besides doing
you a lot of good, it will make me a lot happier.
Work is still going along the same - plenty of it and
I like it as much as ever. Believe it or not, its still
wintry weather over here - seems as if summer will never
come. You would probably laugh about Australian
winters though, after experiencing German winters.
Tell me Mac - did you have a good Xmas? And the New
Year? How did you celebrate that? Never mind
darling - one thing I am certain of is this: 1944 will see
you back home again and we'll have a wow of a
celebration then. So don't be sad dearest. Keep
smiling and be sure and take good care of yourself.
I meant to send you a snap with this letter but find
now that I have left it at home. So next week's letter
I will send one along. Am going to ring your Mother
Now Mac and let her know I have received word
from you. I haven't heard from her since she returned
from Canberra. Once again its Cheerio time Mac.
Oh - remember that boy? Next time you see him; would
you tell him that Dorothy Williams loves him very
much? You will? Thanks a lot darling. My Love Always
Dorothy.

Hullo Darling,
How are you these days still going strong Dot, what about the mail question has it
improved any yet, when you do get my letters I suppose some of them must seem queer to you
getting them so irregular have I surprised you at all in any of them sweet, you want to be prepared
for anything when your reading them Dot, though I dont suppose there is any need to tell
you that now is there? Still you have me thinking of times you know Ive kept a record of all the
letters I've received from you Dot that is as well as the letters, also all Ive sent, so we can check up and
see what we missed later. by the way it's over a month since Ive had one but Im expecting
some next week. Give everyone my kindest regards and if its not to late wish them all a
merry Xmas and Happy New Year, by the way Georgie would just about be a proud
father by this wouldn't he, if he is thats just a little bit more wishing for you to do. Im afraid
thats the best I can do at present, just wish, it seems that life is just one big wish these days
still whats the name if that song "Wishing Will Make It So" that right? well we will see
darling. Just in case you have forgotten all about it, what I asked you still goes Dot, more than
ever, you know what I mean dont you. This place is just the same as ever Im in the pink
myself, its starting to cold once more, so that means it wont be long before there is very little
sport going, a pair of ice skates would be very handy Dot: Hows the old job going still ok.
How are things for entertainment these days Dot are you doing much dancing or skating
gosh I hate to think what I will be like the first time I go on a dance floor Ill have to
learn to skate all over again IF, its a long time since Ive done any of the things I used
to so it will be just like starting off from scratch once more. Im not to bad at filling a
letter up with nothing am I darl it beats me how you manage to read through them
Dot; Well darling once again its Cheerio for the present, keep the old fingers crossed
a little long it wont be long now and I still haven't changed, As always all my Love Mac.
