My Dearest Dot, 7th Sept 1943
Well darling another week has gone by and still no word from you, still
maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day. Id give anything to be back with you
right now sweetheart, and finished with all the disappointments and worries, I miss
you more than you think Dot, Ive tried everything I can to keep my mind occupied
so that I wont start thinking to much, but I'm afraid its not much good it just wont
work, to much thinking is not much good darling it gets me down at times, still I
suppose its only natural when anyone feels like I do about you, so I will just have
to make the best of things for the present and hope its not long before we are to-gether
once again. Ive been hoping for a long time now darling no matter how soon it
is it's not soon enough for me. Hope you like the photo darling its not a very good
one. I look as though Im about to snap someones head off but dont worry Im not
I remembered you telling me in one of your letters, the photo you had at home never
smiled at you so I tried to please you sweet and that's the result, I can only get group
photos for you darling so if you dont like it cut my photo out; throw it away and keep
the best part for your Album, did I make a mistake there Dot? Well darling how
are you still keeping well don't forget to take care of yourself for me will you. You
said in one of your letters a while back, you had got into the rut of existing without
me, well Dot Im just the opposite I cant get into the rut of existing without you. I know
I shouldnt complain Im very fortunate in as much as I have you, and no one realises
it more than I do. but Im afraid it gets the best of me at times and I start worrying
about nothing, still darling dont you go worrying about me everything will work
out all right in the end, So once again its give my kindest regards to everyone, and
all my Love to you darling, for the present its "Cheerio" and keep happy Love Mac.

My Dearest Mac,
Hullo there, how are you sweet? What shall we
two talk about this week ? Crumbs Mac, it's funny
to think, (no, not exactly funny) here we are writing
to one another - nearly three years since we saw one
another, and yet we can still say crazy silly things
to one another. They are only said, darling, to prove
to you that I haven't forgotten the laughs we used
to have - when you would tease and how I would
bite! To prove to you that when you come back we'll
go on the same, having fun, laughing - piecing
to-gether our lives until we'll begin to wonder if
these past years ever existed. To-day I had a
letter from Mrs. McCosker, Mac. (I know you've
been waiting for this news.) Such a nice friendly
letter it was Mac; and she told me, that Bullet
Head is a prisoner of war in Italy. Previous to his
capture Mac, he fell off his motor bike and broke his
leg - had to stay in hospital for three months. Then
three weeks after he came out he was captured. Mrs.
McCosker asked me to remember her to you and to
tell you that Bullet Head's young brother, who often did
messages for you, is now in the Air Force. She
sent me McCosker's address and I am going to drop
him a line this week & say hello for you. I don't
expect to receive an answer back from him as he'll
have plenty of others to send his precious mail issue
to, but I'm thinking that he'd like to hear news of
you. As a matter of fact, Bullet Head may not ever receive
my letter - he may be on the move before it gets
there. No more mail from you since my last letter sweet.
That's not a complaint - just a big sigh! Know what
I've been doing this week? Sleeping at night, working
during the day - day in, day out. My cousin Jack
came to Sydney for a few days but so far we haven't
been out anywhere. Generally we go to the
pictures and maybe take in a dance - it's a welcome
change after such a quiet spell. I have George added
to my list of those to whom I write, so it means more
staying at home now. Gosh! Hurry up and come
home Mac - I won't mind staying at home if you
are here beside me and darling the time does drag
so! But never mind; here I will sit, writing you
until you return and loving you very much all
that while - true and honest. Mum and Dad asked
me to say 'hello' for them and send their regards.
They still hide your letters and start me off looking
for them - sorta 'find the treasure' game, in which
they derive just as much fun as I do myself. Mac
will you do me another favour - tell that fella over
there, will you, that this girl over here is very much
in love with him - and still 'misses him.' Love,
Dorothy

My Dearest Dot 10th Sept 1943
At last darling my luck has changed, I received five letters from you two days ago, and best
of all another one of those lovely photos, thanks a million sweetheart, if I could love you more than
I already do I would darling, but no one could feel more for anyone than I do for you as it is. I was very
disappointed to find you have not been getting my mail, I write regular two forms and cards a month
the remaining two cards are sent home, thats all we are allowed Dot, but I'm always trying for extras for
you. Im very sorry about that letter darling dont let it worry you I don't know why I put that in anyhow
its not as though I have anything to keep from you, just the opposite my only wish is to share all I have
with you, I suppose I will have to do my own shopping, you wouldn't like to come with me would you
we could do all our shopping together, I remember going with you one Friday night after work,
a long time ago. you told me I would be bored, still if you had known how much I looked forward to
our walks to the station and talks you wouldn't have said that. If you wish to darling you can
certainly come and listen to McCosker and I chin-wag, you would probably get a surprise
though, and another thing Dot I'll want to take you everywhere I go, Im very proud of you
darling just in case you don't know. I know just how you feel sweet my only wish is to make
you happy and if there is anything I can do that would help always let me know, you are the only
one who can really make me happy, and I dont think there is any need to tell you how. I have
two snaps with me Dot taken a long time ago some of the last I had taken so Im going to send them
along I hope you like them. Well darling look after yourself wont you and always remember if at
any time I dont write its only because I can't, but above all Dot I love you very much, and whatever else I may do I'll never change. Give my kindest regards to everyone and don't forget Bett, as you
suggested we will take her to a show, a good comedy one, notice I said we, I wouldn't go without
you, if that's ok you can put it on our list; it must be getting long by this but we will have
plenty of time. Well darling its here again Cheerio for the present. Always All my love Mac
