Dearest Mac,
From me to you - a Happy Christmas darling!
Of course I wished you that yesterday morning, as
soon as I woke up - did you hear me? It was a very
quiet Christmas Day, Mac. Lots of nice presents (with
enough powder to last me two years.) a beautiful swim
at Cronulla in the afternoon, then Christmas dinner at
night.  Norma came around, and I invited one of the
boys from work, also. (He's merely a good friend, Mac,
who had nowhere to go for Christmas.) I saw your
father when I visited them on Thursday evening. They
are all exceptionally well dear - missing you, especially
your mother. I really believe she'll go crazy with
joy when she sees you again. And she'll not be the
only one either, Mac. I've just been having a glorious
time - the young lad across the road bought a
horse and to day he brought 'Bill' over for me
to ride: He's a lovely animal - just as frisky as
can be, and after we'd ridden him for awhile; we
took him inside and hosed him down and polish-
ed him beautifully until he shone like a piece of

copper. Would you still love me if I smelt all
"horsey" and had smudges on my face? That's how
I am right now, honey. There was something else I
meant to tell you about Mac - my nicest Christmas
present - a letter from you with the big photo of four
of your pals, including you, I mean. Mum handed
it to me on Christmas morning and I could have
hugged you when I saw the photo darling. You
look so brown and so well, darling! Bet you'd just
washed your hair too and just couldn't do anything
with it. Remember how I teased you about your
mop? That letter was dated 7th Sept and through the
week I received two others, 21st Aug and 10 Oct, so you
can see the mail is arriving well, of late. And believe
me - it's wonderful to get your letters Mac. They are
never boring to me my dearest, nordo they make me blue
- well, not often anyhow. Gee, you should see my brown
arm on the writing paper Mac - I'm really getting
a tan up. Say, when are you coming home to have
a swim with me? Maybe I'd better say, when are
you coming home? I pray it won't be long my
darling, but I can wait, nevertheless. That's cause
I love you so much Mac.  Love from all - all of mine
Dorothy
