....................19......

Dear Dot,
Just a few lines to let you know the latest
news etc.
As you know doubt know by now or should
seeing as I sent you a telegram this morning
I am at present in Perth on leave. Well to
start with it has nothing on Sydney, there are
no electric trains or if there are they must be
hiding them, and the trams are as old as the hills
But then they have some very nice looking girls
not that I know any haven't even spoke to one
as a matter of fact, not interested, the only one
I ever was interested in wont take any notice of
me always saying she is to young etc, but that

(2)
getting off the track, as I said they are nice, but
they are not half as nice as a certain Miss Williams
I know and I only know one. Remember the old saying
if at first you don't succeed try try again, thats me
all over of course the army has made it a bit hard
and I will just have to keep in contact and hope
for the best until this war is over, maybe when (if)
I come back my luck may change, I sincerely hope
so if its not to late.
I have a camera my sweet and I will send
you every photo the censor will pass I hope to send
some soon.
There is not much to tell Dot I have already
posted one letter, I don't know if you have received it
or not I doubt it, as it was posted on the boat and
they will probably hold it up.

(3)
As you will notice in these letters that are censored
we are not allowed to mention any names of Ports
Ships, or put any dates or times in them but I will
tell you all I can of interest.
You know I left Sydney with my head in a whirl.
you see I would get one of your letters and think
to myself one I have a rough chance, and then the
next one you would be going crook about being
mushy etc etc and bang would go my hopes, and
I go round all day we like a bear with a sore head.
I guess I never will make you out darl.
Well Dot I'd like to write a book but I must finish
now so until the next time which will be from
a foreign Port "Big Cheerio"
Lots of Love x x x x x
Sincerely Yours x x x x
