Dear Mother How are you, quite well I hope. Just now when

I most want to get letters & know the new's from home none

come. The last one I got was on the 5/8/44 from John dated

1/6/44. I miss John a lot, I hope we will be as good mates as

we used to be when we meet again. I expect we have all

changed a good deal since last we met. It is two year's

today since we were captured & over three since I saw John.

Dear Mother I hope you are quite well. I have not had any

letters from you or anyone else since 5th of last month. It is

rather annoying that when I'm more anxious for news than

at any time since I got your first letter, is one of times

when I dont get any for a long time. I'm wrong saying I

have not x had a letter from anyone I got one from Mrs Grimmitt about

a fortnight ago, it was the first time I'd heard from her or

Annette since last Dec & I thought they must have given up

writing. She says she hopes that I go home through England as

they would like to see me again. I feel complemented, but I dont

mind much myself which way we go as long as we're not to

long getting there. How are the two boys & Joan getting on. I

hope they are all well. Since we arrived here there has been

some quite good cricket matches, the Aussies beat England by 9 runs

South Africa beat England by 7 wickets & we beat S.A by

3 wickets.I have not had a game since I left England, so

I did not try to get one here. I'll wait till I get out before

I play again. Well Mother there's not much to write about in this

dump &  I afraid my letters must be rather dull they are all so

much alike, but I do my best & perhaps before long I might be able to

write more interesting ones. I heard a good joke on WS.O.W the

other day. A repat went to see the people of a man still here,

later the chap here got a letter saying, he (the repat) is a

a nice chap but a xbit queer isnt he. His mates say he was

alright when he left here & comment is but how would they know anyway.

Dear Mother I did not write last week as xit was so long

since I had any letter I thought I might get some soon, &

it is much easier to write one when I have some to answer.

But as I have not had any yet I will not wait any

longer because I know  you like to hear from me as often

as possible, just as I like to hear from you. I'm afraid theres

not much news, but there never is here anyways.  The cricket

is all over now & they have started playing rugby again,

I watched a game this afternoon & it was quite good .

There is a booklet in camp about conditions of repatriation

& there is some quite interesting  information in it, but

nothing about land settlement. The Aussie representive

told me the ballot for the lot you put me in for

was to be drawn on 15th July last, so I'm wondering if

John or I had any luck. I expect you will know by the

time you you get this,we are only xgetting 1 red  + parcel per week between

two now because of hold up's in transport, but Fred & I

manage to make it spin out pretty well &  are not

feeling any the worse for it. The wether has been

pretty cold lately for this time of year. I have been

wearing  my winter vests for about a fortnight now, but

not the long underpants, last year it was Nov before

I wore any winter under-clothing, so I expect this will

be a pretty cold winter. Give my love to the two boys &

Joan. I'm still hoping to see you all again soon.

Cheerio Mother your loving son

Dear Mother I hope you & the two boys & Joan are all well. I have not had

any letters since 5/8/44. I wish I could get news a bit quicker but its not

much good wishing, I should not be here &  I would not have to wait so long.

Theres not much news Mother, we are still on half a parcel a week. The wether

is getting colder, but I have plenty of clothes & I'm quite well exsept for

a slight cold that has not bothered me much. Yesterday I watched a

rugby match N.Z.V. S.A. it was a good game &  S.A. won by 2 pts. Cheerio
