Dear Mother & Dad  28/6/43

I was on the last party a week & came back

here to Stalag. I am in the N.C.Os compound & do

not have to go to work unless I wish to, so I expect

to be here quite a while. Fred is still on the

party that I came in from but is trying to get

off it & come back here. Last night I met an N.Zer

that was caught with us on Crete. he has just come

in from a working party. There is a lot of our Regiment

here now, they arrived some time ago from

another Stalag & I ^have met a lot of the chaps that

were E Troop. A few days ago I also met a chap

out of John's company named Col Goodworth,

he said he knew John but not very well.

Fred had a cig parcel about a month ago &

there was no card with it so we dont know

who it was from, but I think it must have been

from Mrs Grimmitt. I have not had any yet, & I

have not had any mail for about 6 weeks.

I hope you are all well & that we will see

each other before XX long. Has Billie been

married yet. How are Bill & John getting on?

have either of had a rise in pay if so how

much. Not having any ^letters to answer its very hard

to fill a page & I'm ^afraid this is a rather a poor effort.

Best love to all

Dear Mother & Dad How are you all at home.

I am quite well but have very little to write about.

I got a very nice letter from Joan last week & also

one from you but it was an old one. Joan tells

me she was nearly getting married last year but is

glad now she did not.  Who was the man do you know

Don't tell her I asked she might not want it menioned.

Cheerio Love to all

Dear Mother & Dad Before I forget again as I

have been doing every time I write, would

you please cable Mrs Grimmitt £10 as she is

sending me parcels & it might run them short

of money as I dont think they are to well

off.  I filled in a form to send them money

from here but they never got it.  I had a

letter from Annette & also one from Aunt D a

few days ago.  Yesterday was Saturday & there

was some quite good wrestling but the

main item of interest for us was a test

cricket match between Australia & N.Z.

which we won very easily the Aust first

innings 70. N.Z. 1st inn 65 Aust 2nd inn

6 down 204. N.Z. 2nd inn 48. One of out bowlers

got 5 bowled, 1 lbw, 2 caught, 1 run out, making

9 out of the 10 wicketts.  Last week N.Z. played

England & got beaten badly, so there should

be a good match when we play England.

I hope Bill & John ∧are still alright, I'm afraid

it does not improve my selfrespect or peace

of mind to know they are still in the

thick of it while I'm a p.o.w. I know that

is unreasonable, because I'v not done anything to

be ashamed of, but that's the way I feel.  Am well.

cheerio Lots of Love
