Dear Mother & Dad I got two letters from you tonight. 30/11/42. Glad to hear news of Jack. Also glad to hear Joanna and Nan are both getting on so well. I had a letter from Mr Eden & he tells me Reg McMahons's son died, they seem to be a very unlucky family. Please try & get me some land, where ever the best chance seem to be in Queensland or N.S.W. (preferable Queensland) HHJ Armstrong

Lots of Love to all

Dear Mother & Dad. I am in good health &
getting on quite well. It is very good to be
getting letters again & know everyone at home
is alright. it was a great reliefe to me to hear
that Bill & John were alright, as I often used to
wonder if John got away from Crete after I
saw him there. Please try & get me some land
preferable in Queensland if the chances there are
good. For if you think it is better in N.S.W.
i am sending you £100 as soon as possible, please
invest it or put it in the bank as you think
best. Fred & I last saw Flap about 10 days
before we got caught & he was quite well
then. we have already written to his people
but they may not have recived it. It must
be nice for you having Les & Kath living close
by, how are they getting on. I will be very glad
to see them again & hope it wont be long
before I do. When you send parcels send as
much chocolate as possible, no books, & not
much clothing. There is not much to write about
here, we just go on working & every day is the
same. most week-ends we get off. Keep an eye on
on the stock & land market for me Dad. Give
my love to everyone. So long Lots of Love from
HH Armstrong

No. 13
Dear Mother & Dad
18/4/43
I got your letter of the
28/1/43 last Thursday it took 77 days to get
here & is the quickest

I have had yet. Was surprised
to hear you had not received any
from me. I hope you have done so by now.
I do not need many clothes, two changes of summer
under-ware, two of winter under-ware, two towels
two pairs of pyjamas, 12 handkerchiefs, four shirts, 8 pr.
socks, 2 pr. gloves, 2 pr shorts, 1 pr slippers per year. Other
things I want are a valet razor & blades, soap,
toothpaste, shaving brush, boot brushes. Send them
whatever way you think best, but I would
like you to send the 3 monthly parcel yourself
& if possible put at least 5 lbs of chocolate
in each. I think that £1 a week is too much to
be paying as I will most likely never recive
the value of it, & in any case I do not require it.
The winter here starts about Oct, the summer about
April, & parcels take from 4 to 6 months to get her
from home, so you will have an idea when to
to send the right clothing. I am in very good
health sp dont worry about me. The winter was
very cold but I did not feel it very much, &
it ^is quite warm again now. Lots of Love to all
