"Ha Ha" hissed Gustave
"The pretty spaniard will
yet be mine." Perdita
the abovementioned tabby
looked piteously through
the bars of her prison and
sighed. She felt sure that
her Aussie would come
to the rescue. The buzz
of an aeroplane struck
her eager ears and the
propellor hit Gustave.
"Foiled villain" said the
Aussie for it was him.
"I have papers here, which
I got at Horseferry Road
proving that Perdita is
not a spaniard but
the daughter of the Earl
of Clapham." Perdita
threw her arms round
his neck and sobbed
with joy. Bill took
her home in the plane
and they will be married
when Perdita gets the
family coronet out of pawn.

Editorial:—
This talk about
wanting peace is all a
big bluff on the part
of Germany. Our special
correspondent in Berlin
kidded he was drunk
one saturday night and
a Fritz lance jack told
him that all the Kaiser
wanted was to have
the Aussies sent home
Of course this may not
be dinkum, and our
correspondent may have
been really drunk (he
is pretty good on the swallow)
but at any rate it is
more truthful than the
article in "John Bull"
entitled "What the
Kaiser told me about
the Australians"
WAR NEWS

Fritzs have gone over and

A great many more could

According to an English
paper, one of the Italian Generals
is an Anzac. Some of our
readers will probably remember
him as the man who used to
sell ice cream to the fatigue
parties who were waiting
for water in the gully.
