Letters from Kenneth Jack Young to his family, 1918 - Part 7
3.
But when I received your letters
I shall surely have more.
You know we cannot write
much from Here.
However I am quite well
and everything is going tip top
Trusting you are all quite
well, & that all is well.
now dear Mum & Dad I must conclude.
Kindly remember me to all
friends.
With much love to you both
Yours ever
Ken.
Haven't seen any of Ray's
Unit yet, but am sure to later.

Dear Dad & Mum.
I had the good luck to receive
a good big batch of Aust mail
this evening sent on from Iness
Nicholson, (in a Registered packet)
Miss N. is very good & no mistake
Well there was 1 letter from you
Dad 2 from May, 1 Ede, 2
Mollie, & one from Sam Jenkins
So you see I did not receive one
from Mum, but of course this was
about the time Mum would be
coming back from Sydney.
I was so pleased with the news
from dear old Australia it seemed
2.
ages since I heard of any of you
I am very sorry to hear of Bill
Mackays death - altho' I am not at
all surprised, in fact it was what
I just expected, we always said he
would go off like that didn't we,
but it is hard luck, yet death, is
nothing, almost, these times, and not
looked upon as anything terrible now.
or rather not as it was before Guerre
Do you think so? You appear to
be 'wondering" when this war
No wonder, however Dad, I think this
year will see the end, In fact I feel
almost certain of it, every body is full
of it, & it can not last many months.
our Lads
are very friendly with them, with them
in we shall do A1 soon.
I shall have plenty to tell you when I
get back to Aussie ; can't say much now.
The weather is OK again now
nice and warm thank Goodness.
the next winter I hope we will be Home,
or well on our way there at least.
We do a bit of training here
behind the Line, everything is OK &
I am feeling quite well always.
hope I keep so now. Well Dear Dad
& Mum I must conclude, & write a little & often
Trusting all is well, Yours very sincerely
Ken
