Letters from Kenneth Jack Young to his family, 1916 - Part 14
We are getting a Great lot of open country fighting
practice, you know I think this war will soon
lead to that, it will be a bit better for us I think,
still there is not much difference I suppose.
Mrs Sugas Son, has had his arm amputated
poor chap, that was hard luck, she wrote me such
a kind letter, Mrs Sugars is a grand woman, I
think a great lot of her, Glad I went & saw her.
When we get our leave - I hope to see her again
Went to the pictures last nigh N too B. it was a Bit
of a Break, one of shows in just two or 3
minutes walk from the "room" I am in.
If we are in this camp During the winter
it will be pretty miserable like, but I am
not worrying over anything, just intend taking
things us they come, the same as you say Joe
is Doing. Wrote to Joe some little time Back, no
Doubt, he will answer it soon now.
Later. I have just seen Clair off, he arrived in my
Quarters at about 4. 30. I was sitting there in my bunk
in he came with Mick Symons, they both look & appear
to be happy & contented. They came on push bikes, We had
tea, over at the Y M C A, & a good yarn, it was grand quick
cheered me up, I wish we were together. Ray included, I have
not any body much in the 43rd, however it was grand me
seeing him, we hope to meet next week end, at a
village near here, & Ray too we hope. Clair is trying to
make arrangements , Ray is supposed to arrive tomorrow.
won't he be Delighted. Clair thinks our camp is much
nicer than where he is. But they are very comfortable I
think, hope Ray will be comfortable where he is.
I know you will be pleased to know we have met. &
also Connie: she will Be Delighted I know.
Well how I must again Close I have
very little news, but hope to be able to scratch
up some more in a Day or two.
Give my love to all Aunts & Friends,
I will write to Ede soon now.
With very best Love, to you all & Connie
Yours Sincerely
Kenneth.
