Malta I hear. No change in the weather
thus far. I have nothing to do on
Board. My Staff attends to everything
& I can ly lie & think about you &
my dear little wee pets ^ones all day. I am
very lonesome for you all my dear
ones. Don't forget to tell me all the little jokes &
tricks of the wee ^our darlings Katie. It is
[*Omit*]
cheating to be away from them so much but
you do let me share a little bit of them
when you tell me about them. Weren’t you
the darlingest wifelet to give me such dear
sweet bairnies. I am so glad they are
good & loving little ones. I want them
to be ever a comfort to their darling
sweet mum. There is nobody
in all the world so sweet & tender &
good as she is. Little love lady
Imposé me. Tell me at Trismas which
is coming soon & we’ll be six years
wed then darling if you are glad
you wedded me. ’Member dearie I
said I was going to ask you that
every ’Versary dearie pet. I hope
I’ll be with you dearie to ask you
my very own self & not just by this
old letter. Another of my old

Fossil Colonels got seriously ill just
before we left Egypt & we left him
there. I am trying to get Geoff McCrae
made Colonel in his place. I hope
the old Chap doesn't come back for the
sake of his Regiment but apart
from that I wish him no harm
one way or another. Now if the
third old Fogey ^chap would trip over
a brick & break his leg or damage
himself in some way & I could
get Bert Layh made Colonel in
his place & I would be set up with
my Colonels just as I would like
Of course I would rather have Bob
Smith as Colonel than Geoff Mc
but that is impossible & Bob is not
Very loyal to me. It would however
a great comfort to me if anythin
happened to me to have Bob re
to succeed me as Brigadier. I woul
be easier in my mind about my Bo
But we cannot have everything can
Not even in wedded life, but we can
be very happy in spite of that, especially
with the dearest sweetest sunshine lady
in all the world Tell me does oo love me pet

I want to Know Katie wifelet. I’d like
to have you sitt sitting ‘side me on the
Couch & telling you what a darling you are
instead of trying to write it on the Knee
where you ought to be this minute with
a bendy old book & a blunt pencil. I
wonder how much you will be able to
read of it. I’d just like to be looking
into your bright eyes to see the love
light in their brightness & hear you call
me your “Donny love”. Isnt that a jokelet
of a name but I wouldn’t change it a bit
‘cause little wee Katie love called me it
first with a wee sweet cheeky whisper
Do you ‘member. Do you remember calling
me Patsy before that. Cheeky brat – And you
an’t to pretend you were scared of me
don’t believe you were ever a bit scared
on. so there. You were always just a cheeky
wee micelet. Give my wee pets a big heap
love & a Kiss from Dida for all their love.
Bye now darling pet for a little while
