Monday 15th Jan19 FRIDAY
Stayed in Dugout in
Cow trench till 3.30 then volunteered
for fatigue to carry Duckboards
from "Corduroy Dump to
"Thistly trench" 300 yds behind
line. few shells no Casualties
Stayed in "Cow trench' again
all night. very cold.
20 SATURDAY
Parade again fill in at
9.30 AM. Dismissed at 11.30 AM
Half Holiday in Afternoon to
clear up coals. Etc

21 Sunday
Went on Leave to Amiens
arrived at 9.15 AM Went
through Cathedral (4 Hours) Departed
Amiens at 7 P.M. Arrived home
9.30.
Rest of Battalion at Brigade

Drill from 9-30 A.M. to 11-30
A.M. (Morning) 2:30 to 4-30
Afternoon.

to Conquisal (4 Kilos) Arriving
at 11-30 PM.

25 THURSDAY
File in at 10 AM. Marched to
Musketry Range (3 Kilos) fired
15 Rounds. Then home arriving at
2 PM.
26 FRIDAY
Marched to Range file in at
8 AM fired 15 Rounds.
Home by 1 P.M. Went to
"Port Remys" in Evening with
Tom Crow. Dined on Steak & Chips.
Home at 9 P.M.

31 WEDNESDAY
Packed up to return to Battalion
was transported in
Motor Busses to Albert Marcel
from there to Becourt Camp.
(5 kilos) Arrive at 8 P.M.
Received 10 letters from Australia
& 2 from England.
(Camp just behind line).
FEB. 1 THURSDAY
Stayed in Camp all morning
in afternoon was ready to
march off to join Battalion at
last minute. Was selected to go
to 4th Army Corps Head Quarters. On
Guard (30 in All) remaining men went
off to 'join up'. Guard attached to
22nd for night. Moved off
with 22nd to "Peake Camp" in sight
of line & stayed the night. Met slaw
Wilson 2.M.S. A Coy. 22nd Batt

2 FRIDAY
Purification of B.V.M. Candlemas.
Moved off from Peake Camp
(Right of Colin Masons) to Albert to
pick up Packs. Got Packs had
dinner at Albert & then moved off
to HQuarters at Hennecourt Arriving
at 4 P.M
3 SATURDAY
Did nothing all Day
Went to Laviéville in
morning for Bread.

4 SUNDAY
Mounted guard at 9 AM. Went on
Duty 7PM again, from 1-2 am on 5th
5 MONDAY
Relieved off Guard at 9 A.M. Filled in day
mooching around camp & kicking football
[[Sen?]] in evening for Bread.

6 TUESDAY
Expected Leave. "Knocked back" till
Wednesday filled in day writing
Letters. [[Sen?]] in evening for
bread.
7 WEDNESDAY
In Amiens on Leave again
Visited Cathedral. Left 3.30
arrived home at Hennecourt
8.30 Bombs dropped in
Amiens immediately after
departure (from Taube)

8 THURSDAY
Mounted Guard at 9PM.
On Duty from 9 AM to 11 PM
again from 9 PM to 11 PM
9 FRIDAY
Relieved at 9 PM. by new Guard
Filled in rest of day at
Coffee Canteen.

10 SATURDAY
Slept till 12 AM. Filled in
remained of day at
Coffee Canteen. 9 PM
went in Coal fatigue to "Buzzey"
in Motor Lorries. Arrived home at
1 AM Sunday morning.

Up 10 AM unloaded coal
& got into such a state that
Q.M. gave me complete change
of clothing including trousers
(which fitted too tight under arms)
Played football match against
1st Anzacs (was appointed Capt).
got together Lovievlle team & got
horrible beating also. 4-11. "V2"

12 MONDAY
Mounted Guard 9 A.M. shifts
from 5 to 7. Day night.
13 TUESDAY
Relieved 9 AM by new guard
Later in day - issued with
new Books, Blanket coats, & scarf.

14 WEDNESDAY Notice to Pack up & move offat 12 Noon.
Slept till midday. Played
football match with 1st Anzacs
Beaten by 2 points 6-6 6-4
Brokedown as soon as had
first Kick. Captained match
from boundary.
15 THURSDAY
Received notice to pack up
& go back to Battalion. Shoved
off at 2 P.M. in Motor Bus &
landed at "Scots Redoubt" south
at 4 P.M. Received mail & 2
parcels, one from mater & other
from "Scalby".

16 FRIDAY
On water fatigue carrying
to cooks. distance of 1 mile
from "Contalmaison" to "Scots
Redoubt" south
2 trips for day
17 SATURDAY
Orders to move from
"Scots Redoubt South" to
"Acid Drop" South sent
ahead of battalion with
G.M. to go on Ration Fatigue
Buckshee Jam, Butter, & Candles
out of job.
Went over to [[Red?]] Kitt's
camp in afternoon evening
arrived home at 9.30.

"Fell out" on Parade at 9.30 AM.
Drilled till 11.30 A.M.
2.30 "fell in"
again & fired rifle grenade for
1 hour.
19 MONDAY
Went on sick parade & Dr
put me on Light Duties.

Light Duties.
Foot wash for Company
& issue of antiseptic powder -
for foot treatment
21 WEDNESDAY
Again on sick parade Big
dose of oil & anties ""Narpoo"
Dr expected to go up in line
this evening, but postponed till
tomorrow.

Went up to Line left Accd drop
Camp about 4-30 PM arrived
on Post about 9 P.M: Put on
Listening Post No. 41 overlooking
Fritz's line. (Listening Post - shell
hole laid on sheet all night till
5 AM. 23rd Very cold.
Several shells landed
close to "Post"
23 FEBRUARY
Stayed in dugout all day
6 P.M. out again on "Listening Post".
Stayed till 5 AM on 24th.
More shells.
Very Cold.

24 SATURDAY
Camped in dugout all day. 6.15 P.M.
Again went on post & stayed till
2 A.M. 25th most, when we were told
that there was to be "Hop Over" to
take trenches in Front.
Had tea at 4 P.M.
25 Sunday
2 o'clock A.M. Called off post to go with 7
others to take strong post on right. reached
strong post & found enemy had
flown. trench taken later
by Battalion. very little
opposition. Lasaries Trench

26 MONDAY
Stayed in Dugout till 3 PM
then went out with Sgt Herroad.
on observation duty. returned
10 P.M. Land in Shell hole all the
time Had 3 shots at Fritz (no results)
2 officers killed (Lt. Murray & Cousins)
returned to Dug out & stayed
all night & next day Had
Breakfast at 11 AM. first meal
since 4. PM. Saturday. was relieved
at 10 PM by 17 Brigade returned to Scots Redoubt.
27 TUESDAY
Up at 8.30 did nothing all morning
rifle inspection in Afternoon.
