Dear Mab
Your letters of 27/12/16 28/1/17.
reached me yesterday_ The parcel
containing sox, cigs etc also
came to hand & were most
acceptable. Very best thanks.
The weather here has been
pretty rotten for some time
past, but yesterday & to day were
much better, & we're hopeful of
a spell of better weather from now
on _ Some much depends on
the weather_
I am feeling A 1. & have been
back with unit for some time.
It's grand to be back with
the unit, it's the only home a
home a fellow has on this
side of the world.
Things generally are shaping
very well, & great things are possible
within the next couple of months.
I saw Charlie Plugdul
yesterday but was not speaking
to him. He seemed quite alright._
I know that you will feel
horribly vexed at brevity of this
note, but you must be generous
& remember that conditions here
are not conducive to letter
writing at length._
Remember me to all
Lots of Love
Yours ever
Hector.

Dear Mab
Your letters 2 in number
reached me yesterday_ Delighted of course
to hear from you_
I am pleased to hear that
you met May again when you last
visited Melb. & hope you had a good
time.
May mentioned that you are
thinking of going to Melb to live_ perhaps
by the time this reaches you, the change of
residence will have taken place_ If you
are keen on it I sincerely hope you are
able to bring about the change.
We are at present, & have been
the past few weeks, behind the lines enjoying
a spell? However, although a working
spell, it is very welcome. We expect
to go up to the line again in a few days.
I do not remember if I mentioned
in my last letter that I had received
my commission.
In future address will be as
follows:-
Lieut H.A Robinson
6th Machine Gun Coy
A.I.F.

Kindest regards to all.
Lots & Lots & Lots of Love
Yours ever
Hector.
