for some time Wireless call were sent out
but no reply was received search was made and
the "Kent" was eventually found. with her
Wireless shot away. but she had sunk the
Nuenberg in conlusion Admiral Stoddard.
enlarged on the large amount of luck that
attended the fleet for had they joined forces.
with Admiral Sturdee on the 24 Nov. as
arranged instead of Nov 26th they would have.
in all probability left Falkland Island. on the
7th Dec and thereby missed the German Ships but
as it was they met us at our best and the
(Monmouth & Good Hope) were avenged. when our
ships had all rejoined the flag Admiral Sturdee
made a signal saying that the action was not
complete and would not be untill the Dresden.

lost part of her bridge & bow light all her
rails bent & broken & much damage to her hull.
April 9th Ships spread 12 Miles apart Vindictive joined
Sweeping north Kronprinz Wilhemm expected
in the vicinity cleared ship for action.
April 10th Sweeping North Liverpool & Glouster joined

April 13th Midnight received news that Kronprinz had.
been interned Hampton Roads Newport Near
this being the last German Warship at
large. Ships closed on Sydney & Shaped course
for Rocas Island.
April 14th Cricket Match took place on board between
officers & Men. the Admiral taking part Officers
won the Match the Admiral (won) made two
runs & caught one out on our side
April 15th 3. 0 pm arrived at Rocas Island. & anchored.

Increased. speed. Ignored all signals fired one
round of blank. from 3 pdr. no reply.
2. 30 pm. Fired one round. 6" full charge & common
shell. She there stopped and was boarded by.
our armed party it was then ascertained she
had been detained & searched by our ships
at Kirkwall for 4 days. She was allowed.
to proceed.
Sep 4th On New York patrol.
7. 30 pm Spoke to S.S. St Paul. who reported they
had just lost a woman overboard. switched.
on searchlights & cruised around 8.15 pm.
sighted woman in the sea. but to all
appearances she was dead. and she was lying
face downwards. However we let go the
lifebouy & called away life boats crew. but
on arrival at the spot where she was
last seen the body had disappeared our.
lifebouy also one from St Paul was picked
up but although the search was continued
for some time no Trace of The body
It would appear that the wash from our.
propellers had disturbed the body &
cause it to sink after informing us of
the loss of the woman the St Paul
proceeded without further communication
9. 15 pm proceeded patrolling.
Sep 5th Left patrol as being relieved by "Canarvrn"
Sep 6th On passage to Halifax
Sep 7th 6. 0 am arrived & anchored at Halifax.

Flagships steam boat was run down by a Tug.
3 Men being lost The Captain of The "Caronia"
who was saved from the "Cressey" having a
narrow escape. Ships in harbour Leviathian,
Argyell, Caronia, Sydney, & Cumberland,
Sep 8th 5. 40 am Collier shored off S.S. Bullmouth
secured alongside took in 150 Tons of Oil Fuel.
Sep 10th An. explosion took place on board a schooner.
loaded with "Naptha" lying alongside the Oil
frier close to the ships in a few minutes
the schooner was burning fiercely each.
ship sent assistance as there was a great
danger of the Oil storage tanks ect catching
fire all. ships were ordered. to raise steam
so as to shift if necessary. The fire Brigade
from the ships blew up the pier and so
isolated the fire from the oil buildings
the explosion had caused the schooner to
ground so it was impossible to tow her.
