Dear Mr. Cottnell
I received your
everwelcoming letter that you
wrote on your way home. I hope
you had a lovely voyage all the
way home. I shall not get home
yet I have a lot to do in France
yet Well make them sit up before
we are finished with them. Well
as for myself I am fairly well now
but thanks to the Matron here. If
I had of been at Cambridge much
longer I should have been crippled
for life My leg would have been
3 inches shorter than the other The
wound on the wou foot affected
all the sinews and muscels in
my groin I have been having
hard at work again I hope your
business was satisfactory when
you returned I heard Young Tressidu
from Bulli was killed I saw him a
few days before I think you will
have young Frew with you all in
a short time He is pretty certain
of getting home He takes very bad
turns with his head poor fellow.
I had to go back to Cambridge to
vote on the Conscription last week
I don't know what you think about
it But by the returns that I saw
the other day there is no hope of it
carrying. The weather is getting
very cold over here now and you
will be having the nice warm
sun I only wish I was there But I
have got my duty to do for first I should
not like be home now and feel that
I had left with my duty not finished
Yours Sincerely
W Mobbs
