On Sunday morning the 22nd of August
The 5th Brigade just as day was breaking
made the attack on the Trench Turks who
where entrenched on Hill No —
C Coy of the 18th Batt made led the attack and
was followed by B.D. and A and where
reinforced by 19th 20th and 17 Battalions
I was wounded early in the attack and was
with Lieutenant Linklater who was badly
wounded in the Sikh Indian trench just
behind the Turkish trenches
Where I witnessed each company make
thier charge
My comrades fought with great dash and
courage in spite of the shells ^and machine
Guns deadly enfilading fire and captured
trench from the Turks
Hero's every one
[*1*] The Boys of the Fifth Brigade
All. Honour The Boys of the Fifth Brigade

All Honour The Boy of the Fifth Brigade
2 All Honour The Boys of The Fifth Brigade
Rifle fire in front of them
Schrapnel shells bursting over them
Machine Guns firing on the left of them
All Honour The Boys of the fifth Brigade
3 All, Honour the Boys of the fifth Brigade
With a ringing cheer they made the Charge
Bayoneting The Turk with all thier might
Manning the trenches they took in the fight
Honour The Boys of the Fifth Brigade
4 All Honour the Boys of The Fifth Brigade
Honour the Wounded Hero's who fell
and xx had braverly fought so well
Honour the Gallant officer's Honour the Brave men
All. Honour The Boy of The Fifth Brigadea^ I composed this
