To the Editor of the 'Sydney Morning Herald'

Sir

I frequently send papers addressed:-
For the Sick Soldiers To Mrs Chirole, c/o Cook's, Cairo.
and I suppose one thus sent had my name in, for
last September I received a letter of thanks from
Trooper Dancocks Ma'adi Hospital, As
he seemed particularly lonely, I wrote to him, and
a few weeks ago received this letter, which you may
use as you think best. Perhaps some of the
people who are anxious to write to "lonely soldiers"
may like to have his address, and I am sure
he will be glad to receive an occasional letter.
I know how very disappointed my own boy is
if mail day goes by without a letter from home

M.S.P.
I do not want the letter again.

We had a quite.
Xmas yesterday. I have been
on the Pensula. nearly ever
since. I Wrote you. I got
your letter at Gallopoli
& was very pleased to hear
you had received my note
I got blown up at Gallopoli &
was very sick after it althou
I was not hurt, only shock from
the concussion, & was sent
here to the hospital, I am
alright again. It is hell in
the fireing line. All the fights
I was in, were in the night
just grim struggles in The Dark

I was in the takeing of two trenches

& then the turks tried for four
nights to retake them. they

advance crying Allah. Allah

but they lack the determined wish
of our boys but the mornings

preset an awfle sight every
where you look is blood, & the

dead lying. but the worst

gh of all is the pitiful groan our
mates give when they are
hit beside us. they just
fall & lay quite. but the
Turks groan all the time.
& they wont try to burry
their dead. & the smell is
K. horrible.

But if we have a rough
Time in the trenches, We
are well looked after in
the hospitals. The Sisters
are wonderful. & through
their priceless care they are

saveing thousands of us

There is a Sister Perry of

the No 2 Australia Hospital

she comes from Sydney all
Australia should honour
her. I wish you could

let the papers know
of her.
Wishing you a happy

New year. I must conclude.

Your true friend
Trooper Danacks
