thigh no 14 Genearl Hoshilal alexandren 1/9/15 8282 Dear Mothin just a line to let you know I am still alive and kinking as you will see by the heading of this retter I am in Hospital in alexandrea I have got a leopple of Bullets wounds one in my right + none in my right Bultock I have had them taken out & it is only in matter af a few week for the wounds to heal and I shall be ready for the furmer line again I was only at the front 2 day before gelting wounded we were ordered to Charge and take a line of turkish brenches we had a tereble list of killed and wounded monst of our officer were killed but anyway we look the trenches and me Turk suffered far more than we did there is nodoudt about it the the turby can shoot but they don't uke the Payonet when we got the trencher and got to work with bold steel Johney Turk went for his life you could not see hs heels for dust. I am quite comportable here the only bault is I have to stay in bed we got every care and attention any
amount of good bood and t get a Chicken every day to dinner when we had tacken the brenches we had so many casuallies that we were not strong enough to hold it & had to retire it was then that I got hit as I was laying down firing at the Enemy I hope I shall not be inpospited long as I want to have a nother go at Johny surh this is a letter that t rrecieved from my son at the front would you please put it in you paper and let the mother see that ther are getting every attention in thee Hospital Pb WE. Dear Mother

Just a line to let you Know I am

still alive and Kicking as you will see

by the heading of this letter I am in

Hospital in alexandrea I have got a Copple

of Bullets wounds, one in my right &

thigh one & one in my right Buttock I have had

them taken out & it is only a matter of

a few week for the wounds to heal

and I shall be ready for the firing

line again I was only at the front 1 day

before getting wounded we were ordered

to Charge and take a line of turkish

trenches we had a terible list of Killed

and wounded moust of our offices were

Killed but anyway we took the trenches

and Mr Turk suffered far more than

we did there is  nodoubt about it the

the turks can Shoot but they dont

like the Bayonet when we got the trenches

and got to work with cold steel Johney

Turk went for his life you could not see

his heels for dust I am quite Comfortable

here the only fault is I have to stay in

bed we get every care and attention any

you paper and let the Mothers see that they 

are getting every attention in thee Hospital
