SUNDAY 2nd.
I went up on to Scherpenberg Hill.
Had Church Parade at Tunnellers Hut
Called on A & B Coy offrs in afternoon.
MONDAY 3rd.
Dimant & I went over Kemmel
& inspected pumping plants, dams &c
TUESDAY 4th.
Investigated OR cases at C & D Coys
Met Genl Smythe & Col Bridges.
Bn Concert in No 1 Tunnellers Hall.
WEDNESDAY 5th.
Conference of COs at D.H.Q. Lunched
at B. Mess. Had watch oiled.
THURSDAY 6th.
Our Bn had sports near
Dranoutre.
Holiday for men
FRIDAY 7th.
Concert to our men in Tunneller's
Hall near Dranoutre by Optimists Coy.
An excellent show.
SATURDAY 8th.
Lunched with Stanley.
6th Bde sports
DECEMBER, 1917.
SUNDAY 9th.
Dined at 1st Aust Tunnelling Coy.
Finished pipe laying on Locre Chateau -
Neuve Eglise Line & North Kemmel line.
MONDAY 10th.
Visited 3rd Pioneers at Nieppe.
Gothas dropped bombs. Stayed at
Phillip billet all night. Pierrots & sing -
Song at Doctor's.
Started clearing channel & drains of
HELLEBEKE Stream.
Started pipe lowering of Hagendoorne system.
TUESDAY 11th.
Ballot on Mil Service Referendum
Our Soccer Team beat 23 Bn.
Finished building coffee stall at Locre baths
Erecting Keys huts at Caestre.
WEDNESDAY 12th.
Sent YMCA pad, leave pass & NANNA
Brown's letter to Doug. Ayr cards to all
Finished Hagendoorne pipe system, also
Locre system.
Key huts at Caestre & Rifle Range shelter

THURSDAY 13th.
Cleaning up odd jobs
FRIDAY 14th.
Bn moved to billets
in NIEPPE. I at No 29 Rue de GARE
with Docteur VANUXEEM. Paid men who
behaved well.
SATURDAY 15th.
Started on work in Sector between River
LYS on right & River DOUVE on left.
A & C Coys on forward C Ts
B on roads & drains.
D on tramways construction & maintenance
I went to Hyde Park corner &
east of hill 63.
Met Mr Norris of ‘Comforts’
DECEMBER, 1917.
SUNDAY 16th
Padre had services in YMCA hall
I lunched at Steenwerck with CRE
2nd & 3rd Divsn & discussed plans.
MONDAY 17th
Bosche plane brought
down. Major Rutledge & I went through
trenches of right Bde area.
Snow had fallen & fell
during morning. Cold wind.
TUESDAY 18th.
Lt Armstrong Killed while
Surveying drains. 1 OR wounded.
I inspected drains on hill 63.
WEDNESDAY 19th.
Doc & I dined at 5th Fld Amb.

Cabled 'Happy Returns Sweetheart'
THURSDAY 20th.
Wrote NELL 75.

Doc & I walked to 2nd Aust C.C.S &
had tea there.

Excellent dinner.

Only work maintenance patrols.
